Scouting Notes: Bedford at Richland

Richland overcame deficits of 4-0 and 6-3 in the 6th and 7th innings to win 7-6 in a wild and dramatic comeback victory over Bedford.

Bedford (7-2) took an early 1-0 lead thanks to back-to-back doubles by Tyler Black and Austin Montgomery. Bedford added to its lead in the sixth with a three run outburst on only one hit. Luke Campbell led off with a double and came home on a throwing error. Two runs scored with two outs on another throwing error, allowing Bedford to take a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth.

KazmierczykRichland’s Tyler Mikesic laced a two-run double to left-center before coming home on winning pitcher Carlo Kazmierczyk’s RBI double to left. Bedford added two more runs in the 7th when Black drove in Campbell with an RBI single and Alex Robinette added an RBI single to make it 6-3.

Richland (6-2) responded with a four-run rally, scoring all runs with two outs. Ryan Onderko and Mikesic each had RBI singles. The tying run came in to score on an error. With runners on first and third and two outs, Richland scored the winning run on a walk-off balk when Bedford’s pitcher attempted a pickoff to first with the first baseman playing back.
