Calvary Christian took a 4-0 lead in the 1st, then found itself down 8-4 in the 5th, but managed a run in the bottom of the 7th without the ball leaving the infield to walk off with an 11-10 win over visiting New Hope-Solebury.

Leading the way offensively for CCS was 2014 catcher Mark Farley, who went 3-for-4 with a triple on the day. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitter barreled the ball all four trips to the plate (his out was a line drive to 1B). He will need to improve his agility and arm strength over the next couple years, or he will be ticketed for first base at the next level.

CCS starting pitcher 2013 Reilly Degen (University of the Sciences) struggled on the mound, but put a charge in the ball in three of his trips to the plate. A first inning triple yielded an 89 mph exit speed, while the right-handed hitter also had two well-hit flyouts to right-field.

2014 SS Jake Vesling showed well for NH-S. Vesling doesn't possess a plus tool (4.50 home-to-1B, average arm strength), but the 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitter is solid across the board. He moves well on the infield and trusts his glovehand on plays to his left. He hits from a square stance, holds his hands around ear height, and uses the middle of the field well. Vesling finished the day 2-for-5 with a triple and two well-struck flyouts to center.

NH-S 2014 OF/RHP Jack Dougherty got a chance to show his stuff on both sides of the ball. The 6-foot right-handed hitter has an athletic frame and solid arm strength. He lays the bat a bit flat to launch, but that didn't stop him from going 2-for-4 with a walk and a triple, and finding the barrel four times (including being robbed of another extra-base hit on a sprawling catch by CCS 2013 OF Josh Molyneux). Dougherty sat 78-80 on the mound from a 3/4 slot. He flashed a solid curveball at 68-69 for which he had a very good feel, keeping it down in the zone and using it as a chase pitch late in the count.

2015 3B/RHP Spencer Tinkel went 2-for-5 with a triple out of the 3-hole behind Vesling and Dougherty.  While he did not pitch in this one, his 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame and above average arm strength across the diamond have PBR looking forward to seeing him toe the rubber in the future.
