By Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

Following the completion of a full lineup of winter indoor events and in preparation for the first pitch of the high school baseball season, it is time to roll out our first update of the calendar year to our class of 2018 rankings.  This update includes the addition of 25 prospects as the list grows to a total of 100. The next update will likely come in early July following the completion of the high school season and after the first three events of the PBR summer schedule.

William Penn Charter OF/LHP Mike Siani, a Virginia commit, continues to hold down the top spot in the rankings. A member of USA Baseball's 18U roster this past fall, Siani is also currently ranked No. 2 in the PBR Overall Rankings for this class.

Siani is followed closely by a pair of Team Pennsylvania members from the 2016 PBR Future Games. SS Thomas Caufield (West Chester Henderson), a North Carolina commit, and LHP/1B Dillon Marsh (Lancaster Catholic), a Kentucky commit, check in at numbers two and three respectively. Marsh has had a productive fall and winter on the mound recently showing his ability to hold upper 80s velocity on the mound at the Preseason All-State Showcase.

Top Newcomers

Of the 25 prospects added to the list in this update, RHP Austin Odell (Bishop Shanahan) at No. 51, RHP/C Casey Rother (Tamaqua Area) at No. 56 and OF/LHP Quinn Buffington (Camp Hill) at No. 58 head the list. All three made big impressions with their performances at the recent Preseason All-State Showcase.

Also new to the rankings is St. Jospeh's Prep SS Luke Gutos, a transfer from Moorestown HS in New Jersey at No. 59. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder, committed to the College of Charleston, represented Team New York at the 2016 PBR future Games.
