Updated Class of 2016 Rankings Released

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Jake JessellThe updated Class of 2016 rankings have been released in advance of the start of the Fall College Prospect Program beginning this weekend. Rankings will be updated next in October at the completion of the fall program.

It is still early to predict how deep this class will be, but with No. 3 ranked C/RHP Jake Jessell making his commitment to Pitt already it is pretty clear that talent at the upper end of the class is very strong. The updated rankings now go 45 players deep. That number will climb significantly as we see more prospects from this class this fall and winter.

One to watch:

TarabekA player that impressed this summer is SS Matt Tarabek (Hempfield Area HS). Tarabek jumps five spots to No. 12 in the latest rankings based on his performance at the Western PA Open ID Showcase in June. Tarabek will be participating in the Fall College Prospect Program and is likely to continue a rise in the rankings. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect showed clean actions in the middle infield, with a very soft glove hand and an 82 mph arm across the diamond.
