The 2015 Western PA College Prospect Showcase took place on July 1 on the campus of Seton Hill University. Our rundown of the participants continues today with the 10 left-handed pitchers in attendance.

2016 Left-handed pitchers

Nicolas Feret, LHP/OF, Greater Latrobe, Class of 2016

6-foot, 170-pound primary pitcher. Lefty sat 63-65 from a high 3/4 arm slot. 57 mph curveball displays 1/7 rotation with occasional 12/6 spin when Feret gets on top of the pitch. Also showcased a 59 mph slider with a flatter, later break.

Logan Gibbons, LHP, Ellwood City, Class of 2016

6-foot-2, 180-pound lefty sat 78-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot with an overhead rocker delivery and some arm side run to his fastball. Struggled on this day to get on top of his 69 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation. Gibbons also flashed command of 76 mph  changeup at near fastball arm speed.

James Malone, LHP, Connellsville, Class of 2016

5-foot-11, 160-pound lefty sat 73-75 from a 3/4 arm slot with a significant side-rocker step. Malone's 62 mph curveball displayed 1/7 rotation and Malone flashed command of his 68 mph changeup that he has a tendency to telegraph with slower arm speed.

Nathan Pastorek, LHP, Freeport Area, Class of 2016

5-foot-11, 180-pound lefty sat 77-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a high knee stack and some hip coil to his delivery. Showcased command of a 66 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and a 67 mph changeup.

J.P. Pellis, LHP, Greensburg Central Catholic, Class of 2016

6-foot-2, 175-pound lefty sat 78-80 from a high 3/4 arm slot with repeatable mechanics and solid balance throughout his delivery. Pellis displayed solid command of a 64 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation a 67 mph slider and a 65 mph changeup with near fastball arm speed. Projectable frame and loose arm projects for additional velocity gains moving forward.

2017 Left-handed pitchers

Robby Heberle, LHP/OF, South Side, Class of 2017

5-foot-11, 160-pound primary pitcher. Lefty sat 76-78 from a high over-the-top arm slot with limited back leg finish to his delivery. Heberle flashed a 62 mph curveball with occasional 12/6 rotation and a 67 mph changeup at slower arm speed.

Zach Kokoska, LHP/OF, Greater Latrobe, Class of 2017

6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way prospect sat 83-85 while topping at 87 mph multiple times from a 3/4 arm slot with hard cut to his fastball. Displayed an up-tempo athletic delivery with a quick arm (91 mph from the outfield). 77 mph slider showed tight, late break although command was an issue at times. Kokoska also showcased an 80 mph changeup at near fastball arm speed. Projectable frame and above average athleticism projects for additional velocity gains moving forward.

Thomas Zbezinski, LHP, Pine-Richland, Class of 2017

Smallish 5-foot-7, 150-pound primary pitcher. Lefty sat 75-77 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose, fluid delivery with more in the tank. Some hip coil leads to the ability to disguise his 69 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed. 61 mph curveball showed 1/7 rotation with some depth, but will need to be thrown at better arm speed to become an effective pitch at next level.

2018/2019 Left-handed pitchers

Nathan Beimel, LHP/1B, St. Marys, Class of 2019

5-foot-11, 175-pound two-way prospect. Sat 75-76 from a 3/4 arm slot with a side-rocker step that initiates his delivery. 65 mph curveball shows tight 1/7 rotation 68 mph changeup is thrown at near fastball arm speed. Projectable frame with some looseness to his arm action should see significant velocity gains in coming years.

Bo Haines, OF/LHP, Ringgold, Class of 2018

5-foot-11, 185-pound primary outfielder. Sat 79-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long-arm deliberate delivery. Showcased a 68 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and a 70 mph changeup while displaying the ability to hold velocity of all pitches from the stretch. Very strong lower half and projectable frame should lead to significant velocity gains in coming years.
