7.14.17 Kings Blue vs Legacy Baseball

Johnny Shields, SS, Legacy Baseball (Howell HS), 2018
Game Report: Athletic middle infielder at 5’10’’, 155 lbs. On defense he shows very fluid actions with soft active hands. Throws the ball across the infield from 3⁄4 arm slot, with a quick release. In the game today he made a nice play on a ball deep in the hole, and showed off an average arm to throw out the runner at first. Shows good instincts at shortstop and has a natural feel for the position. At the plate from the right side he tallied three hits: drove a line drive to left, single to right, and an infield single to short on which he ran 4.27 seconds down to first base. Has the ability to spray the ball on the line to all fields.

7.8.17 Midland Berryhill vs OABC

By Dan Killian

Cass Phillips, RHP, OABC (Lakeland HS), 2018
Game Report: Right handed starter with projection at 6-9, 220-pounds. He got the start today against Berryhill. His fastball today sat between 78-82 mph, with natural cut running away from right handed hitters, and command. His natural cut fastball produced a lot of weak contact today against Berryhill. Breaking ball sat 68-70 mph with depth and command. He used it in all counts and consistently threw it down in the strike zone. Great out pitch. Today against Berryhill he struck out 5 and walked only 1. Delivery is compact with fluid and balanced mechanics. Uses his height to his advantage by creating downward plane on both pitches.
