CFBL Scouting Notes: Lake Brantley Vs. Lake Howell

By Justin Burgess

On Wednesday, Lake Brantley HS, FL, traveled to Lake Howell HS, FL, to take on the Silver Hawks in a Central Florida Baseball League matchup. The Patriots, who historically are one of the better programs in the state, boast a lineup that features several Division I recruits while Lake Howell has a younger squad, led by many sophomores and juniors. Here some notes on a few players that stood out:

Vincent Berggren, LHP, Lake Howell HS, FL (2017)
Berggren is a junior who stands at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds with a skinny, wiry, athletic, and projectable body. In his motion he turns in with his leg kick and slightly cuts himself off in his landing. He shows a high 3/4 arm slot and keeps the same arm speed for all of his pitches. Berggren repeats his delivery and pounds the zone with all three pitches. His fastball sits at 77-80 mph, the curveball is 67-69 mph, and his changeup is 71-73 mph. Berggren will not over power many teams but he was able to keep the Patriots off balance with his three-pitch mix.
