The Base

*Tristan Pompey- University of Kentucky Outfielder*

Within the separation move, which is the first part of the swing, is the base of the swing. This is the move where the hitter's hands are going back and the front foot is going forward. Once the front foot lands, the base has been created.

Tristan Pompey from the University of Kentucky is someone who can do this from both sides of the plate on a consistent basis. By doing this, he is able to athletically read the pitch and adjust when he is fooled.

The good news is Chris Burke has a very simple tip for hitters to check their base positions. Another question hitters can ask themselves is, how many athletic moves can you make from this position? If the answer is several, then you are more than likely in a good spot.
