PBR sat down with the head coach of Brockport baseball for some background on their baseball program and some recruiting advice for players and parents as they head into their 2016 season. Here's what he had to say.

PBR: Please give a little background on the Brockport Baseball Program

Beach: Brockport baseball is an extensive year-round operation. Beginning in September, we have a fall baseball program that includes focus on player development and competitive games. After a thorough off-season strength and conditioning program, practice picks up again in late January in preparation for our annual week-long Florida trip over spring break. Brockport is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), which ranks as one of the most competitive Division III conferences in the nation. We have a very strong spring schedule to go along with outstanding practice and training facilities – JUST RANKED #1 in SUNY! The beautiful Clark V. Whited Baseball Complex – complete with a perfectly-manicured playing surface, two-level concrete press box, state-of-the-art scoreboard and sound system, and two turf batting tunnels – is generally considered to be one of the finest college facilities in the northeast.

The baseball program is not only limited to on the field achievements, in fact we have been very successful in the classroom as well. The team carried a GPA over 3.00 this past fall, best of any men’s team on campus. We have lead the conference with players on the All-Academic team and All-Commissioners list. The team has also been honored for its involvement with CHAMPS/Life Skills (community services acts) at the college. Additionally, over the past decade our baseball program has been a true contender of the NY Region and continuously knocking on the door to the NCAA tournament. We have been in the post-season 14 out of the past 15 years, averaging over 25 wins a season.
