Justin Hicks pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks in the six-inning victory. Noah Herdmann and Jack Rigoni homered and Evan Ranneklev went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Wildcats.
No. 14 Mount Carmel 5, No. 2 Brother Rice 4
Alek Thomas’ two-run double was the big blow as Mount Carmel scored three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. Christian Lucio allowed one earned run on eight hits in the complete-game victory. Andy Lopez hit a solo home run for Brother Rice.
No. 3 Libertyville 6, Zion-Benton 5
Griffin Murphy’s two-run single in the top of the seventh gave Libertyville a 6-3 lead. Dan Marks had two hits and scored two runs in the victory. Riley Gowens struck out seven in four innings.
No. 5 St. Laurence 8, No. 4 St. Rita 7
Brian Lyle squeezed home the winning run as St. Laurence rallied for two in the bottom of the seventh to win a Catholic League Blue thriller. Tyler Woynerowski’s two-run double capped a five-run sixth-inning rally that gave St. Rita a 7-5 lead.
