Wheaton Warrenville South 7, Naperville Central 4
Wheaton Warrenville South (10-6; 8-3) scored seven runs in the top of the fifth to erase a 4-0 Redhawk lead and salvage the final game of the crucial three-game DVC series. Austin Polezoes started and concluded the seven-run Tiger fifth with singles. Nate Roskuszka and Ben Flores (3-for-4 RBI) plated the first two runs of the inning. Justin Kelly’s RBI single put the Tigers up 5-4 and Polezoes’ second single of the inning drove home a run to conclude the scoring in the inning. RHP Brett Strubing went the distance for the Tigers, allowing no earned runs and five hits with 10 strikeouts.
Marian Catholic 5, No. 11 Joliet Catholic Academy 3
Marian Catholic (13-10; 5-4) stunned the defending Class 3A state champ Hilltoppers, scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth and rolling to victory in Chicago Heights. Senior Michael Bainbridge’s RBI single brought the Spartans within 3-2 in the sixth. Louiscarlo Avila tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single and senior 1B Dan Jankowski, had the game winner with a two-run single to highlight the Spartan sixth. Junior RHP Bryce Hennessee went the distance for MC, allowing three runs and eight hits to improve to 5-3 on the mound.
Prospect 6, Rolling Meadows 5
Prospect (14-7-1; 8-3) pulled back into a first-place tie with Elk Grove with the walk-off win in Mount Prospect. Mike Piotrowski was 4-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI to lead the Knight attack. Piotrowski’s third double of the game led off the Knight seventh. Piotrowski went to third on a balk and scored the walk-off game-winner on a sac-fly by Grant Gerdes, sending Knight fans out onto Route 83 jumping for joy. Tyler Damaski chipped in with a pair of singles and two RBI for the victorious Knights.
No. 25 Mascoutah 10, Troy-Triad 0
Mascoutah (19-3; 5-0) routed the Knights in six innings behind a three-hit shutout from Alex Ottman. Ottman struck out four and did not walk a batter. Austin Waugh led the Indian attack with a 3-for 4 day with a double and four RBI.
