NC Insider: Updated Class of 2018 Rankings

The beginning of the high school season is here and it is time to re-organize and adjust player rankings within North Carolina. There is not a lot of movement as the winter months are a time for players to work on their games and begin to get ready for the long season.
While there was not a lot of movement, there was some shuffling and there were several additions to the rankings. Sixteen players debut in the player rankings after PBR was able to put a full evaluation on them at a Scout Day, workout, game, or PBR Event.
The top of the 2018 rankings took a little shuffle as several of our scouts were able to put evaluations on some of the top players. Already this spring, our staff has profiled Owen White (RHP, Carson HS). Owen has a strong hold on the No. 1 ranking after a dominate performance where he continues to show growth and evolution with his electric stuff. Holden Laws (LHP, South Granville HS) showed improved arm strength and a project-able frame to jump from No. 20 to No. 5 in the rankings.
Several players that attended the PBR Preseason All-State event in January where able to showcase improved tools and make jumps in the rankings. Aaron McKeithan (C, TC Roberson HS) flashed premium accuracy with a strong arm and improved barrel awareness to move inside the top ten. Brett Kerry (RHP, Wesleyan Christian Academy) continued to build on his resume with advanced fastball command and arm strength that is bumping 88+ now. Zachary Hammer (RHP, Alexander Central HS) has a long, lean frame and flashed an above average breaking ball to go with a fastball that jumped out of his hand.
The 2018 rankings are a continued work in progress. As our staff continues to cover the state of North Carolina, we will continue to update and adjust. We are committed to being the No. 1 news source for high school baseball in North Carolina. To do this, we will be evaluating games, workouts, practices, and running our own events.
