NY Insider: Long Island Top 25 Player Rankings




For decades, Long Island has been a hot-bed for premium baseball players. Roughly 120 miles long, with a population pushing 8-million, it's safe to say the Island is crowded with baseball talent.

As we continue to shape the state here in New York giving Long Island some much needed love was far overdue - that's on us. Everyone loves the rankings, and rankings are clearly subjective. Our professional opinion vs. others; this player should be higher, that player should be lower - but there's one thing for certain, these rankings will be talked about. Check out New York's class of 2019, 2018, 2017 rankings.

Here's a look at our Top 25 players on Long Island (Classes 2017-2019 considered).

Name: Brian Morrell
High School: Shoreham Wading River
Grad Year: 2017
Position: RHP
Commitment: Notre Dame
The Buzz: Shows a power sinking fastball 88-91 mph using a clean, quick arm-action from his 6-foot-0 wiry frame. Has the hand-speed to throw a slurve/slider 77-81 mph with sharp shape. Tough competitor. High-end dual player as he's shown left side capabilities and has plenty of power at the plate.
