New England Draft Preview

By Dennis Healy and Nathan Rode

The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Weather wreaked havoc on the whole country this spring, but New England may have had the worst of it with all the snow it received. That made it tough to get a good look at players this spring, but there are still a couple prospects worthy of being top 10 round picks. OF Ryan McKenna (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, NH) could give New Hampshire just its third pick in the top 10 rounds this century. In Connecticut, C Ryan January (Salisbury School, CT) reclassified from the 2016 class over the winter.

Top Prospects

1. Ryan McKenna, OF, St. Thomas Aquinas HS, NH
McKenna doesn’t jump out physically, standing at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, but scouts like him for the way he plays the game.
