Notebook: North Carolina Draft Prospects

By Nathan Rode
National Supervisor

The regular season opened this week in North Carolina and with some good weather coinciding, I popped out to a couple games to get a look a few of the state’s top prospects.

First up was Leesville Road HS, NC, hosting Conley HS, NC. On Conley is 3B/1B Bryant Packard, an East Carolina recruit. He generally played first base when I saw him last summer, but he was manning the hot corner on this day. Unfortunately, nothing was hit his way so I didn’t get a look at him defensively. At the plate, Packard hits from the left side and has strength in his 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. He didn’t swing in miss on the night, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored.
