Ohio Insider: A Look At The Recruiting Classes For Division I Programs In The State (Part 1)

By JD Heilmann and Dylan Hefflinger

Ohio Scouting Director and Ohio Editor in Chief/NW Scout

With the start of the fall signing period upon us, JD Heilmann, the director of scouting for PBR Ohio, breaks down the top recruiting classes based on in-state prospects. This will be a three-part series as we examine the recruiting hauls of Ohio’s Division I programs. Beyond the surface, we drill down deeper into immediate impact players, sleepers in the class, and other behind the scenes information that went into a player choosing their college program.

Over the next two weeks, we will breakdown the in-state recruiting hauls for Division II, III, NAIA, and JUCO programs as well Division I programs that took players from within the Buckeye state.

If you are a senior, it isn't too late. College programs are still looking. Make sure you check out our Unsigned Senior Showcase on December 6th by clicking here.

Overview: Recruiting Coordinator Larry Day didn’t waste any time for the Bobcats getting an early start to the 2015 class. Following past trends, the Bobcats continue to pull players from the Miami Valley and southwest Ohio. Although he isn't a southwest Ohio product, Bowling Green High School SS Devon Garciacommitted to the Bobcats at the end of the 2013 summer after playing with the Midland Braves. Devon should compete for action early or give Ohio some depth in the infield. Just recently they received a verbal commitment from Troy Black (Waynesville HS), who is the brother of current Ohio player Ty Black.
