On the Hunt: High-Ceiling Uncommitted Underclass Right-Handers

This week's edition of On the Hunt highlights a handful of uncommitted right-handed pitchers with quick arms and fastballs that get on hitters in a hurry.

Evans is an athletic 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect with a wiry, projectable frame. Without much use of his lower half, Evans’ fastball already gets as high as 86 mph. He makes up for the lack of lower body use with a short, quick arm stroke that culminates in a 3/4 release. Evans also shows good feel for a curveball (70-72) with tight spin, and knuckleball (65-68) with drop that is utilized almost as a changeup. His motion is athletic and compact with good tempo. As he continues to develop physically, and incorporate his lower half on the mound, expect Evans to see a jump in velocity. ...
