Ontario Insider: PROCASE Preview - Austin Shields, RHP

Austin ShieldsName: Austin Shields
Position: RHP
Grad: 2016
Rank: 62nd Overall in PBR Class of 2016
Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 220-pounds
Club Team: Great Lake Canadians
Committed: University of British Columbia

Background: Shields has turned himself into a legit 2016 draft prospect as the 6-foot-6, 220-pound right-hander had a great winter, changing his body along with his fastball. The noticeably slender Shields has been up to 94 mph indoors, and in games outside this March in Florida. He is moving better on the mound and has added some muscle to his frame, his fastball is heavy and the arm is clean from his ¾ arm slot. He works with a controlled tempo and over-the-head windup, creates plane downhill and is able to work out front. Slider is firm and works between 82-84 mph with tilt and bite down in the zone, changeup is in the mid-80s last time we saw him indoors.
