Introducing PBR California

Sean Duncan
President

With great pleasure, we bring to you Prep Baseball Report California. Our mission in California mirrors that of our other state-specific coverage: to provide the most comprehensive in-state scouting information, to promote high school baseball and, ultimately help California prep athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level. Our goal is to be the year-round No. 1 scouting resource for prep baseball in California.

Although it will take some time to achieve the status of our other 36 states, we are certain we have the right people to thoroughly, accurately and honestly scout California:

Les Lukach and Blaine Clemmens.

California is arguably the most fertile baseball state in the country, with high-level prospects stretched across 800 miles from north to south. Lukach, a native of San Diego who resides in Orange County, heads the scouting efforts in Southern California. In Northern California, Clemmens has been a fixture in the scouting community since 1999. Together, they will manage our unparalleled scouting coverage in California.

Lukach has been ingrained in the Southern California baseball scene for nearly a decade. After coaching in high school, Lukach began scouting in Orange County, covering prep players for a blog he created that took off. From there, he broadened his reach to all of Southern California. Eventually Lukach was contracted to scout from different services online before shifting his focus solely on his blog. Lukach graduated from Long Beach State University.

Since 2004, Clemmens has run a successful showcase in Northern California, Bay Area World Series (BAWS), which has seen 28 former participants reach the big leagues and over 200 draft picks. He's been involved in the future of hard-working student-athletes since he began coaching nearly 20 years ago. Very few baseball people in Northern California have the depth of experience that Clemmens has. Clemmens began his coaching career at Solano College before moving on to the University of San Francisco, where he served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator from 2000-2002. From there, Clemmens became the National Scouting Director at Team One Baseball and Perfect Game before serving as an area scouting supervisor for the Atlanta Braves. With the Braves, he worked for two years under scouting director Roy Clark before returning to run his own business full time in 2010.

Now Lukach and Clemmens will bring their baseball experiences and passions for scouting to California's prep baseball scene. Lukach and Clemmens will work tirelessly to bring to you the most comprehensive high school baseball information California has ever seen and provide scouting coverage to all corners of the state. But they can't do it alone. Please email them at [email protected] or [email protected] with college commitments, relevant news, and top players in your area.

California-specific events will begin this summer. Prep Baseball Report events are designed to give players the maximum exposure needed to advance to the next level. Not only will players receive high-level exposure to college coaches, but all players at events will be videotaped, and the edited performance will be hosted online. All players' profiles, verified statistics and scouting reports can be searched in our expansive player database.

Our flagship state, Prep Baseball Report Illinois, was launched in 2005. Over the last 13 years, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country's biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive coverage in every state we are in. More than 800 colleges and pro scouts now subscribe to the Prep Baseball Report multimedia services.

Now, we are thrilled to be your No. 1 source of high school baseball in California.
