An extremely impressive and highly touted group of 2017-2020s came to Preseason All-State at IMG Academy on Saturday, January 21st and did not disappoint. Over the course of the next couple weeks we will continue to break down every single player in attendance.
Today we take a look at the PO’s from each class in attendance:
Shawn Rapp, LHP/1B, IMG Academy, FL (2019)
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound LHP/1B shows a smooth, easy short arm swing. The velocity isn’t there yet with the fastball ranging 76-78 mph, but has above average to plus command down in the zone to both sides of the plate. Also showed the ability to really spin the slider at 72 mph and a feel for a changeup at 74 mph. He also showcased a sidearm slot adding to the deception. He shows an above average feel for three pitches and the stuff should improve with age, strength and innings. Offensively, the right handed hitter shows quality separation and an aggressive approach. He shows a short, strong swing with an exit velocity of 80 mph.
