Recruiting Essentials: 3 Big Questions for Acadmic Counselors

By Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

Visits are an important factor in any college decision.  The sense for the campus, community, staff, and facility can all be major factors in a player’s decision.  College coaches are very prepared and experienced with visits… they do this for a living and most have a sense for what works for themselves and their program.

Visits can range from being meticulously structured to a free flowing "by the seat of the pants" schedule.  Most visits, communication, meetings, and tours have been performed hundreds of times as the coach will develop comfort with a structure and that comfort allows them to extract as much information and pass along as much knowledge as possible.

Along the visit, several meetings may be setup to allow prospects to get comfortable with support staff who may be able to shed light on a typical day on a college campus.
