Prospects Off The Trail

Updates off the recruiting trail from December 2017

Noah London, OF, 2018
Commitment: Northwestern Ohio
Club Team: Ontario Yankees
PBR Rank: 29th in Ontario’s Class of 2018
PBR Events Attended: ProCase, Toronto Elite
Background: London is a very toolsy player who has continued to get better every summer and turn himself into one of the top outfield prospects in his class. He has actions all over field with the ability to run, be an elite defender with arm strength while the bat plays more at the top of the lineup with a quiet, simple stroke that can work gap to gap. Speed translates on the base paths and can also lay down a bunt for a hit when he wants. As he keeps trending up, London is not done growing and will be able to continue to add strength at school.

Daniel Carinici, SS, 2018
Commitment: Indian Hills JC
Club Team: Toronto Mets
PBR Ranking: 6th in Ontario’s Class of 2018
PBR Events Attended: ProCase, Top Prospect Games, Future Games, Preseason College Prospect Showcase
Background: Carinci has always been known as one of the most athletic players in his class with the ability to make plays on both sides of the ball. Strong frame with quick hands and bat speed, he’s a spark plug type player who will bring energy and tools to the campus of Indian Hills. Will have opportunity to stay at shortstop and be a big factor of the offense as he fits many roles in a lineup. The arm strength, speed (6.88 sixty) and twitchy actions make Carinci a big pickup to an already Canadian heavy class at Indian Hills.

Updates off the recruiting trail from November 2017

Ryan Santos, OF, 2018
Commitment: Northeastern Oklahoma A&M
Club Team: Ontario Blue Jays
PBR Rank: 41st in Ontario’s Class of 2018
PBR Events Attended: 2017 Top Prospect Games, Ottawa Open ID
Background: Santos is a toolsy player with speed and an easy stroke from the left side. Has recently been moved to the outfield where his above average speed will play. Line drive stroke with good feel to hit, Santos has the frame to add size and strength at 6-foot-3, 175-pounds and has the chance to really evolve over the winter as he heads into his senior year.

Calum Theal, RHP, 2018
Club Team: Great Lake Canadians
Commitment: Niagara University
Rank: 68th in Ontario Class of 2018
PBR Events Attended: Toronto Elite Prospect Showcase, St. Bonaventure Campus Series
Background: Theal stands in a 6-foot-2, 150-pounds with a tall, athletic frame, strong lower body and efficient upper body mechanics that will get better with teaching. Utilizes a short side step to start into a high leg raise above the hip crease. Creates good separation driving forward when his lead leg starts to move towards target while his arm gets good loose action into his release point just above the shoulder. Efficient in hitting the strike zone, keeping the ball low and hitting his target. Fastball topped out at 86 mph with a range of 82-84 MPH and does show small arm side run. Curveball has tight spin showing 12/6 action that can be thrown for a strike. Change up shows good arm side sink at 75-76 mph range. Consistent secondary pitches for strikes and getting hitters to bite at the pitch. Overall a strong pitching prospect from the 2018 graduating class.
