The Hotlist: Risers In 2016 Rankings

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

The 2016 Overall Rankings will be updated soon and you can expect to see some changes. Several prospects made strides over the winter and stood out at some offseason events, boosting their stock. Listed alphabetically below are some athletes that will find themselves making a climb up the rankings.

Joe Acker, OF, Marquette University HS, WI
Acker has a lean frame at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with wiry strength. A Nebraska recruit, he’s a quick-twitch athlete. At the Super 60, he wasn’t the most heralded prospect, but proved that his tools matched up with any of the position players there. He ran a 6.85-second 60 and threw 92 mph from the outfield. Last June, he ran a 6.78 and threw 95. Defensively, he has true outfield actions and moves fluidly and confidently to the ball. He makes accurate throws with good carry. At the plate, he generates easy bat speed with minimal stride and load while maintaining excellent balance through contact. He stays through the ball well and it jumped off his barrel to all fields.
