Under Armour Classic Preview: Ohio Elite

Ohio Elite, which over the years has been one of the top programs in the Midwest, be competing in the Under Armour Classic on June 17-19 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The UA Classic features 12 of the top 16U programs from around the country, each with a number of high level 2018/2019 prospects.
A look at some of their top prospects:
Ohio Elite Arms
Nick Thwaits - 6-foot-1 160-pound prospect with room to fill out. Midwest Futures Games participant for Team Ohio last summer. Works in the 85-87 range with the ability to reach back for more at 88-89 mph movement on the fastball while also showing a three pitch mix with a good breaking ball and changeup.
Spencer Kiehl – Fast-rising 2018 graduate the showed a lot of progression over the last calendar year. Stands at 5-foot-9, 170-pound build. Repeatable delivery with mid-80s fastball and sharp breaking ball at 70-74 mph.
Tristin Siemer – 5-foot-10, 190-pound athlete that has exceptional strength for his age. His fastball ranges between 84-88. Still in his infancy as a pitcher, he utilizes a short slider at 70-73 and a changeup.
Marcus Ernst - 6-foot, 170-pound frame with athletic build. Throws from a 3/4 slot with the fastball sitting 82-84 mph with arm side run. Curveball has tight 11/5 break. Excellent feel for the changeup that sits 70-75 mph.
Ethan Langham - 6-foot, 180-pound right handed prospect that possesses a solid four-pitch mix of slider, curve, change, and fastball. Smooth arm action produces a fastball that sits 82-85 with cut. Slider has good late movement at 73-75. Curveball ranges 70-74 and changeup sits 69-72 with fade.
Ohio Elite Position Players
Zach Dezenzo – 6-foot-4, 180-pound SS/3B, projectable athlete that still has room to fill within his frame. He demonstrates smooth hands up the middle. Dezenzo has a smooth and fluid swing that produces gap power.
Tristin Siemer – 5-foot-10, 190-pound outfielder who has a blend of strength and speed. Gap to gap hitter that has the ability to take extra bases due to his speed. Exceptional arm strength from the outfield and utilizes his speed to track down fly balls.
Nolan Clegg - 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect with a projectable frame that still has room to fill. Historically a catcher that has recently moved to 1B/OF due to a growth spurt and increased speed. 6.7 runner with gap-to-gap pop.
Marcus Ernst – 6-foot, 170-pound two-way prospect that plays primarily second base when he is not pitching. On the field he has smooth hands, footwork, and an advanced baseball IQ for his age. Left-handed bat that utilizes an open stance and small leg kick to generate energy towards the plate as he takes a flat bat path through the zone producing consistent hard contact.

ABOUT THE IMG CLASSIC
The inaugural Under Armour Classic, powered by the Prep Baseball Report, is set forJune 17-19 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. This premier 16U tournament will feature 12 high-end travel baseball organizations, with each team featuring loaded rosters of 2018 and 2019 prospects from across the country.

Unlike many tournaments that have you spending more time in the car driving field to field, all the high-level competition will be in one quad, with staggered starts, posted pitching rotations, complete roster packets, and all other amenities to make your recruiting that much easier. And, of course, it’s all free. If you have attended the Prep Baseball Report Future Games in the past, you can expect the same level competition and event execution. Pool-play games will begin on Friday, June 17, and the tournament will conclude around 2 pm Sunday.
