Here is a look at some scores and highlights from regional games around the state on Monday, May 15, 2017.

 

Goodpasture 11, Monterey 1
The Cougars earned a big win over Monterey in their Monday evening regional matchup, using a strong performance on the mound from Wyatt Blessing to keep the Wildcats at bay.  Blessing tossed all 5 innings and allowed only 3 hits and 1 run.  Cole Carter went 2-2 with a walk and 3 RBIs while Luke Dotson added a double, a stolen base, an RBI, and 3 runs scored.  Ryan Lyle doubled and scored 2 runs and Blessing drove 1 in.

GCA-Knoxville 6, Oneida 0
Hunter Ross and Taylor Lawson combined to shut out Oneida on Monday night, helping to lead the Rams to another tournament victory.  Ross dealt the first 6 innings and worked around 8 hits to strike out 8 and Lawson tossed the 7th, striking out 1. Eli Nordham led the GCA offense, finishing 3-3 with 2 RBIs on the night.  Landon Crumbley had the only other hit for the Rams and contributed a run and an RBI of his own. 

Jefferson County 3, Tennessee 1
Matt Bradley earned the W on the mound for Jefferson County in a pitcher's duel with Tennessee's Zach Hall by tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 1 run on 4 hits.  Bradley struck out 7 and finished 1-3 at the plate.  Tyler Franklin, Jacob Rogers, and Brandon Saylor each went 1-2 for the Patriots and combined for 2 runs and 2 RBIs to help lead the offense.  Trevor Whitley drove in a run, as well.

Greeneville 8, Sullivan South 0
The Devils of Greeneville used a total team effort on Monday night, earning a big regional victory over Sullivan South.  Dalton McLain tossed 6 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing 7 hits and recording 7 strikeouts, while Jordan Idell closed it out with a scoreless 7th,  Both McLain and Idell finished 1-3 with a double at the plate.  Dawson Martin, Caden Ramsey, and Augustus Fraley all had a hit, a run, and 2 RBIs while Nash Newberry finished 2-3 with an RBI.

Ooltewah 4, Warren County 2
Andy Reed powered the Ooltewah offense on Monday night, finishing 3-4 with a double and an RBI, producing 3 of the only 5 hits the Owls saw all night.  Zach Wolfe had a hit and scored a run while Jake Sullivan went 1-3.  Austin Spurgeon and Ethan Walls each scored a run, as well.  Daniel Willie earned the W on the mound, tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 2 runs on 8 hits and striking out 4.

Huntingdon 1, Union City 0 (8 innings)
The Mustangs earned a huge victory in extra-inning fashion over the Tornadoes of Union City on Monday evening, thanks to an impressive performance on the mound by Zack Dodson.  Dodson dealt all 8 innings, allowing only 4 hits while only throwing 81 pitches.  Kelby Pearson finished 2-3 at the plate and scored the winning run on a walk-off single by Hunter Hankins in the bottom of the 8th.  Ben Clifft went 1-3.

Farragut 7, Karns 3
The Admiral offense continued its impressive season on Monday night, racking up 7 runs on 11 hits against a Karns pitching staff that had put together an impressive resume throughout this season.  Jake Hagenow, Zach Yunger, and Cade Burkey all finished 2-3 and combined to drive in all 7 of Farragut's runs.  Carson Wright, Parker Noland, and Ashton King all went 1-3 with a run scored.  Owen Kovacs earned the W on the mound, dealing all 7 innings and allowing 8 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 3.  

Summit 11, Hillwood 1
Blake Money came up big for the Spartans on Monday night, tossing 5 innings of 1-run baseball and putting them in a great position to win.  Money struck out 6 and allowed only 4 hits while Tyler Harris tossed the 6th and final inning with 2 strikeouts.  Chris McElvain went 3-4 with 3 doubles and 2 runs scored to lead the offense.  Wade Lopiccolo and Brandon Johns both had 2 hits, a run, and 2 RBis and Nick Johnson and CJ Esteban each had a hit and combined for 5 RBIs.

Boyd-Buchanan 6, South Pittsburg 5
Colby Morgan and Thomas Baker each hit a home run to help power the Buccaneers to their regional victory on Monday night.  Morgan finished 2-3 with a run and an RBI while Baker went 1-3 with a run and 2 RBIs.  Bray Wilson did some work of his own, finishing 3-3 with 2 RBIs and earning the W on the mound.

Milan 10, McNairy Central 3
The Bulldog offense came out hot on Monday evening, posting 9 runs in the first inning against regional foe, McNairy Central.  Cameron Oliver and Connor Creasy both finished with 2 hits and combined for 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 5 RBIs on the night.  Creasy also earned the W on the mound by tossing all 7 innings and striking out 7.  Griffin Miller went 3-4 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI, while three others finished with 1 hit and 1 run scored.

Dyer County 2, Bartlett 0
Jordan Fowler anchored the Dyer County attack on Monday night, earning the complete game shutout victory by tossing all 7 innings and allowing only 8 hits while striking out 10.  Eli Walker and Cam Barlow scored the only 2 runs of the game and each finished with a hit and 2 walks.  Cayden Stafford went 1-3 and produced the only RBI of the night.

Blackman 5, Franklin County 2 (8 innings)
The Blaze of Blackman gutted out an enormous regional victory on Monday night, using 8 innings and only 5 hits to take down the Rebels of Franklin County.  Zavien Lindsey and Michael Dimartino combined for all 5 of Blackman's hits and tallied a double, a triple, 2 RBis, and 3 runs scored.  DJ Wright tossed the first 6.1 innings and allowed 7 hits and 2 runs with 9 strikeouts, but Derick Junker earned the W by dealing the final 1.2 innings in perfect fashion with 2 stirkeouts.

Beech 2, Clarksville 0 (11 innings)
In one of, if not the best game of the entire season, the Buccaneer pitching duo of Dalton Hall and Ian McWilliams delivered an 11-inning shutout performance.  Hall worked the first 9.1 innings, allowing only 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 11 and McWilliams dealt the final 1.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.  Hunter Crawford led the Beech offense by finishing 3-5 with a double and an RBI while Drew Robertson drove in the other run.  Ryan Mortensen went 2-5.
