Here is a look at some scores and highlights from the district tournament games around the state on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

 

Jefferson County 6, Sevier County 3
The Patriots of Jefferson County used 6 hits and 5 walks to push across 6 runs in their win over Sevier County on Tuesday night.  Sean Fladd hit a home run and finished with 3 RBIs while Matt Bradley and Tyler Shaver each finished with a hit, a run, and an RBI.  Brandon Saylor threw all 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 7.

Independence 7, Centennial 5
The Independence offense continued to lead the way on Tuesday night, banging out 7 runs on 11 hits in their district tournament win over Centennial.  Dillian Saunders went 2-4 with a home run, 2 RBIs, and 1 run scored, while Shawn Wallwork, Beaux Escobar, and Preston Hines all had 2 hits of their own.  Chayton Gray earned the W on the mound and Taylor Massey tallied the save.

Davidson Academy 5, Friendship Christian 1
Brock Myers powered the Bears from both sides of the baseball in their win over Friendship Christian on Tuesday night.  Myers finished 3-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI and dealt 6 innings on the mound, allowing only 4 hits and 1 unearned run with 8 strikeouts.  Blake Osborne tossed a scoreless 7th with a strikeout and went 2-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored.  Nick Cummings also added 2 hits and an RBI.

Chattanooga Christian 8, Grundy County 7
The Chargers pulled out a walk-off victory over Grundy County on Tuesday night, thanks to a wild pitch and an infield error in the bottom of the 7th inning with the bases loaded.  John Rhodes earned the W on the mound by tossing the final 1.2 innings, hit a home run, and finished 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs to lead the offense.  Matthew Mercer tossed the first 5 innings and went 2-3 with an RBI while Chris King added 2 hits of his own.  Joseph Wharton drove in 2 runs and Justin Wheeler doubled.

CAK 8, Knoxville Catholic 1
Preston Burleson delivered a huge performance on the mound for CAK on Tuesday night, tossing a complete game and allowing only 5 hits and 1 run while striking out 11.  Hudson Chastain and Jesse Osborne both had 2 hits and combined for 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs to help lead the offense.  Zane Keener hit a solo home run, walked twice, and scored 2 runs.

Milan 6, South Gibson 3
Cameron Oliver and Griffin Miller each had 3 hits and a run scored, accounting for half of the Bulldogs' hits in Tuesday nights win.  Noah Vickers had 2 hits, a run, and an RBI while Jay Hatfield scored once and drove in 2.  Connor Creasy drove in a run and threw all 7 innings on the mound,  allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and 1 walk with 11 strikeouts.  

Collierville 8, Germantown 5
The Dragons used a total team effort to pull out the distriict victory over Germantown on Tuesday night, with 7 hits scattered between 6 different players.  Parker Moss produced the only 2-hit performance, scoring 3 runs and getting hit by a pitch twice.  Christopher Shaw finished with 2 RBIs while Evan Chatlosh and Adam Hall each drove in 1.  John Gibbs earned the save by tossing the final 3.1 innings in scoreless fashion, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 2.

Greeneville 6, Grainger 0
Dalton McLain dealt the first 6 innings of Tuesday night's win over Grainger, striking out 8 and allowing only 1 hit and 1 run, earning the W for Devils.  Caden Ramsay tossed a scoreless 7th and finished the night with a hit, a run, and 2 RBIs for the offense.  Cody Hartness went 2-2 with 2 doubles, 2 walks, and an RBI, while Dawon Martin scored 2 runs and drove 1 in.

Evangelical Christian 4, University School of Jackson 0
The Eagles got a huge performance on the mound from Houston Harding on Tuesday night, as he tossed 6 innings of 4-hit baseball with 8 strikeouts and 0 runs.  Riley Watkins recorded the save and the two combined for 3 hits, a run, and an RBI on the offensive side.  Josh Rooker finished 2-3 and Dawson Williams had a double, a run, and an RBI.
