Covenant SchoolBattlefield infielder and 2014 Fall Prospect Games participant Elan Goodwin has committed to play baseball at Delaware State University in the fall of 2016. Goodwin is the third member of Battlefield’s senior class to commit to attend a Division I school and fifth current Bobcat to commit, joining Jake Agnos (LHP, 2016, East Carolina), Keagan McGinnis (RHP, 2016, Virginia Tech), Brent Boggs (MIF, 2017, VMI), and Tyler Solomon (C, 2017, Vanderbilt). That group will form the core of a very talented Bobcat team this spring.

Goodwin hit from an open stance that was tall and athletic at the Pre-Season All-State Showcase in 2015. He did not have much of load and his rhythm got stiff at times. His stride was long and dove into the plate. He used his lower half was to drive the ball and maintained good balance throughout his swing. He showed fast bat speed with a good approach during his round and had an exit velocity of 79 mph. His swing path was short and level through the zone, which allows him to be a line drive hitter. In the field, he threw from a three-quarters arm slot with some accuracy and a positional velocity of 65 mph.  Goodwin had soft hands and clean exchanges and his footwork was decent with some fluidity to it.

Congrats Elan!!!
