Every Monday during the high school season, we will preview a handful of the top games in our coverage area scheduled for the upcoming week (Monday - Sunday).

Osbourn Park v Forest Park, Monday March 13
The opener for these teams will be the first chance to see Osbourn Park senior Kyle Whitten (Virginia) pitch this spring. Expect a pack of scouts out to see the big righty who showed the ability to work in the low 90s at Super 60.

North Stafford v Briar Woods, Monday March 13
A matchup of 5A North teams will see Briar Woods take on North Stafford, which will likely send either Justin Cherry (Rhode Island) or Dawson Sims (VCU) to the mound to take on Michael Ludowig (Wake Forest) and rest of the Falcons deep lineup. Look for Briar Woods to cycle through arms, including looks at Ty Germanowski (St. Bonaventure), Wilson Ayers (Navy), and Ludowig.

Amherst Co. v Halifax Co. , Tuesday March 14
The opener for these two teams should be a showdown between one of the top teams in 5A and one of the top teams in 4A. Halifax has senior lefty Andrew Abbott (Virginia) and junior Drew Harlow to run out on the mound against an Amherst lineup that features a lot of speed and the bats of Will Knight (VMI) and Nathan Loyd (VMI).

Nansemond River v Oscar Smith Tuesday March 14
Oscar Smith has a solid core of seniors and Nansemond River will likely send junior Gage Williams (Virginia Tech) to the mound as the defending 5A State Champs open their season.

Lake Braddock v St. John's College, Wednesday March 15
This is a matchup of arguably the most talented private school in our coverage area against the most talented public school. Braddock’s 2018 and 2019 classes are loaded, look for big arms Rojo Prarie (William & Mary) and Lyle Miller-Green (Virginia Tech) to possibly pitch for the Bruins, whose lineup will feature Prarie as well as fellow juniors Jack Darcy and Will Thomas. St. John’s has ten Division I commits including a rotation of juniors Ethan Forbes (Virginia), Zeke Gongola (Maryland), and Jacob Steinberg (Miami).

Colonial Forge v Mountain View, Friday March 17
This Stafford rivalry game could also be a showdown of Division I-bound senior arms as Mountain View could send Justin Pearson (William & Mary) to the mound and Forge could counter with Logan Barker (Liberty).

Grassfield v Hickory , Friday March 17
This could be a showdown between senior arms Hunter Gregory (Old Dominion) and Hunter Perdue (Virginia). Perdue facing Mikey Polansky (Virginia Tech) also will make this Chesapeake showdown an entertaining game.

Collegiate v Paul VI, Saturday March 18
A rematch of the 2016 VISAA Division I State title game could see senior Evan Justice (NC State) on the mound for Collegiate again against a deep and talented Paul VI lineup featuring Connor Baine (George Mason), Tyler Casagrande (Arizona), and Michael Morgan (James Madison). Juniors Cristian Sanchez (Alabama) or Jack Weeks (Georgetown) could see work on the mound for the Panthers who will have to deal with a lineup built around junior Travis Reifsnider (James Madison).

Benedictine v. Paul VI, Saturday March 18
Paul VI’s second game in Richmond on Saturday will see them take on a loaded Benedictine squad that features seniors Eli Ottinger (James Madison) and Will Simon (James Madison) on the mound. Ottinger, Simon, and juniors Gregory Ryan (Pittsburgh) and Callaway Sigler (James Madison) will make for a fun matchup for Paul VI’s pitching staff.

Miller School v. Liberty Christian, Saturday March 18
Miller has a loaded roster with Tanner Morris (Virginia) at the center of a lineup that also features Adam Hackenberg (Clemson) and Will Wagner (Liberty). Junior Ethan Murray (Duke) could take the mound for the Mavericks to deal with an LCA lineup built around juniors Wes Clarke (South Carolina) and Kyle Horton (South Carolina).
