Hillcats Prime Scout Day Analysis: Part 2

On Monday, September 25, Hillcats Prime hosted a Scout Day in Northern Virginia and invited the PBR VA/DC staff to attend to collect data for profiles and to take video of each of the players that participated. Here is the second half of our analysis of the event:

Cameron Karicher SS/RHP Falls Church 2019
Karicher is 5-11 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a taller athletic stance. Strides on line, loads down, some rhythm to swing. Hips rotate completely, some balance to swing. Level line drive swing, some quickness to the ball, works best working gap to gap, gets a bit uphill to pull side, exit velocity was 80. At short, active feet, works around ball, fields with average hands. Plays through the ball, clean exchange. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot, shorter loose arm action with recoil, infield velocity was 78. Ran a 7.26 60 yard dash. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short quick whippy arm action, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders uphill and slightly closed, lands closed with a hard fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 76-79 with some boring action to it. Curveball has hard 11/5 break and good armspeed, running 66-67. Change-up has fading action and good armspeed at 74.

Tyler Kimble SS Oakton 2019
Kimble is 5-8 with an athletic frame and a strong lower half, he hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short stride in place, loads back with a slight wrap, some rhythm to his swing. Hips rotate completely, some balance to swing. Slightly uphill line drive swing, stayed inside ball well, good extension through the ball, showed good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 78. At short, active feet, rounds ball, fields with wide base and average hands. Clean exchange, throws from higher three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 65.

Maxwell Lee OF Thomas Jefferson S&T 2019
Lee is 5-10 with an athletic frame and a strong lower half, he hits from the right side from an upright balanced stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back. Explosive lower half and good balance to swing. Quick to ball, slightly uphill line drive swing with some extension through the ball, showed good approach working middle of the field, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets behind ball and plays through it, fielding with average hands. Clean quick exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, outfield velocity 73.

Sam Phelps 3B WT Woodson 2020
Phelps is 5-8 with a strong lower half, he hits from the right side from a balanced stance. Strides on line, minimal load, some rhythm to swing. Hips fire completely and has some balance throughout swing. Short to ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed good approach working the middle of the field, exit velocity was 71. At third, gets behind ball and fields with a wider base and average hands. Clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity was 69. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long free arm action, normal effort to delivery. Shoulders level and closed, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 68-70 with some sink to it. Curveball was 63-64 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 66-67 with good armspeed and sink.

Archer Rutledge SS JEB Stuart 2019
Rutledge is 6-1 with a lanky projectable frame, he hits from the right side from a slightly closed balanced athletic stance. Short stride closed, smooth load back, slight wrap, some rhythm to swing. Some hip rotation and some balance during swing. Some whip and quickness to his swing, works uphill with a slight pull tendency, exit velocity was 80, showed ability to be short to ball on inside pitches. At short, quick feet, fields with wide base, above average hands, quick clean exchange and some natural athleticism on display. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action, infield velocity was 72. Ran a 7.02 60 yard dash.

Alex Seymour 1B/LHP Brentsville District 2019
Seymour is 6-0 with an athletic frame, he hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back, some rhythm to his swing. Hips rotate and he maintains some balance during swing. Short and quick to ball, works uphill through it with some extension, pull approach, strong swing, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields with average hands. Plays through to a clean exchange. Threw from a three-quarters arm slot with free arm action, outfield velocity was 72. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a long free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are closed and level, lands on line with a fall off finish. Fastball was 70-72 with some late boring action to it. Change-up was 71 with good armspeed and sink. Curveball was 66-67 with good armspeed and late 2/8 break. Was around the zone with all three pitches.

Jonah Wilkes C Falls Church 2021
Wilkes is 5-9 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a balanced upright slightly open stance. Short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back with a slight wrap, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and good balance to his swing. Short simple swing, short to ball level path, good approach worked gap to gap, exit velocity was 72. Behind the plate, clean release, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action. Pop times were 2.31-2.50, position velocity was 60, showed some accuracy on his throws. Ran a 7.57 60 yard dash.

Quincy Wilkins C/RHP JEB Stuart 2019
Wilkins is 6-1 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, smooth load back, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to his swing. Quick to ball, level line drive swing, gets uphill a bit to pull side, extension through the ball, showed good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 83. Behind the plate, clean release, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, pop times were 2.15-2.27, position velocity was 72, showed some accuracy on his throw downs. On the mound, threw from a high three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is loose and normal effort. Shoulders uphill and on line, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 72-74 and touched as high as 77 with some downward plane to it. Curveball was 62-64 with hard 1/7 break and some armspeed. Change-up was 68-69 with some armspeed and sink to it. Showed feel for all three pitches.

Jeremy Ziarkowski OF/RHP WT Woodson 2020
Ziarkowski is 5-10 with a lanky frame, he hits from the left side from an upright stance. Short stride on line, minimal load, some rhythm to his swing. Hips rotate completely, good balance to swing. Quick to ball, line drive swing works slightly uphill with a pull preference, exit velocity was 75. In the outfield, good feet, gets behind the ball and fields it with above average hands, works through the ball, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, outfield velocity was 71. Ran a 7.14 60 yard dash. On the mound, has a drop and drive delivery, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action and some effort. Shoulders were slightly uphill and on line, lands open and finishes in an athletic position. Fastball was 66-69 with heavy sink and run. Curveball was 61 with some armspeed and sharp 2/8 break. Change-up was 60-62 with heavy sink and good armspeed. Showed good feel for his arsenal.
