Assistant Director of Scouting

Jake Agnos2014 Top Prospect Games participant and Battlefield High School left handed pitcher, Jake Agnos, has verbally committed to attend East Carolina University. Agnos joins Battlefield teammates Keegan McGinnis (2016, Virginia Tech) and Tyler Solomon (2017, Vanderbilt) as early commits who figure to anchor a strong Bobcat team that is poised to go deep in the 6A playoffs for the next two years. Battlefield was well represented at last weekend’s Top Prospect Games, as Agnos, McGinnis, and Solomon were also joined by 2016 outfield E’Lan Goodwin, 2017 RHP Austin Landrum, and 2017 3B/OF Brent Boggs.

Agnos had a strong showing at the Top Prospect Games last weekend, sitting 84-85 with his fastball and touching 86. Agnos has clean, drop and drive mechanics and throws from a three-quarters slot, creating running action on a fastball that he commands well. He also throws a change-up that he has good feel of with late arm side run and sweeping curveball. Agnos has good command of all three pitches and knows how to use them to keep hitters off balance.

When he arrives at East Carolina, Agnos figures to have the chance to immediately contribute as a reliever and as a potential weekday starter. As Agnos develops, he has the chance to become a weekend starter for the Pirates who will be able to attack both right and left handed hitters with his good mix of off speed pitches and command of the strike zone.
