On Sunday, February 22, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its second event of 2015, the Preseason All-State, for members of the 2016 graduating class. Over 80 players showcased their skills for PBR staff at Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen, Virginia. All of these players will be eligible to receive an invite to the Super 60, which is the premier professional scouting event for high school baseball players. The Super 60 is held annually in Chicago, Ill. on Super Bowl Sunday prior to their senior season.  Here are the best from the event...Here is our analysis of the middle infielders from the event. +Clayton Baine, MIF, Paul VI, 2016
Hit from a balanced athletic stance that was slightly open.  Smooth load back with a short leg kick stride that stayed on line.  Maintained fluid rhythm and balance throughout his swing.  Hands were quick with a swing path that stayed level through the zone and had good extension.  Had elite level bat speed with an Exit Velocity of 93 mph.  Should be a solid gap power hitter.  In the field, he threw from a loose, high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were accurate and had carry.  Had a Positional Velocity of 81 mph.  He showed soft hands and quick exchanges with fluid footwork that played through the ball.

+Ryan Brusick, SS/3B, Centreville, 2016
Hit from a crouched stance that was balanced and athletic.  Load was smooth.  Leg kick stride that allowed his lower half to be explosive.  Maintained good balance throughout his swing.  Fast bat speed with a swing path that was short and level with good extension.  Had an Exit Velocity of 84 mph.  His short swing path, along with his bat speed and explosiveness should allow him to be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he showed a high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were accurate.  He had a Positional Velocity of 71 MPH.  Hands were soft with clean exchanges.  Footwork was clean, but sat on heels at times.

+Will Burgess, MIF, Washington & Lee, 2016
Hit from a tall/balanced athletic stance that was slightly open.  Load went back, but had a slight arm bar.  Stride was long, but maintained his balance throughout the swing.  Swing path was short/level with good extension.  Had an Exit Velocity of 87 mph.  Rhythm did get stiff at times, but his good hands made up for it.  With a lower half that is explosive and fast hands he should be a good line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  Throws were accurate with a quick release.  He had a Positional Velocity of 71 MPH.  His hands were soft and allowed for clean exchanges.  Showed good footwork, but sat back on heels at times.

+Trenton Burgreen, SS/3B, Millbrook, 2016
Hit from a tall/closed stance.  Not much of a load.  Arm bared during separation.  Stride was short with a slight leg kick.  Lower half collapsed as he approached contact.  Balance was maintained throughout the swing, but rhythm was stiff at times.  Had a short and level swing path that should result in a line drive hitter.  Exit Velocity was 79 mph.  In the field, he threw from a loose ¾ arm slot that was long at times.  He had a Position Velocity of 76 MPH with accuracy.  His hands were soft and had clean exchanges.  His footwork was fluid and allowed for him to play through the ball.

+Alex Burke, SS/OF, Potomac, 2016
Hit from a tall/athletic stance that was open.  Load was smooth and stride was short with a slight leg kick.  Rhythm was stiff.  Lower half was explosive with quick hands.  Exit Velocity was 78 mph.  Showed a pull approach.  Swing path was short and worked uphill at times.  Explosive swing should allow him to be a consistent line drive hitter with pull power.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot that was stiff.  Throws were accurate and had some carry.  Positional Velocity of 77 mph.  Footwork was slow and got caught on heels at times.  Hands were decent with clean exchanges.

+John Callahan, SS/3B, Stone Bridge, 2016
Hit from an open stance that was athletic/balanced.  Smooth load back with a slight arm bar.  Had a short leg kick stride.  Swing had fluid rhythm to it.  Lower half was explosive and maintained balance throughout his swing.  Bat speed was explosive and had a good approach to the round.  Elite level bat speed with an Exit Velocity of 90 mph.  Swing path was short and had good extension. Should be a good line drive hitter with power to the gaps.  In the field, he threw from a loose high ¾ arm slot.  Throw showed life and accuracy.  He had a Positional Velocity of 85 mph.  His hands were soft with quick, clean exchanges.  His fluid footwork allowed him to play through the ball.

+Cody Forster, SS/RHP, Riverbend, 2016
Hit from an open stance with flexed knees that was balanced.  Hands dropped during load with a slight arm bar.  Had a short stride that allowed him to maintain his balance.  Lower half did not stay engaged throughout the swing.  Bat dragged through the zone.  Exit Velocity of 79 mph.  Swing path should allow him to be an opposite field line drive hitter.  In the field, he had a loose high ¾ arm action.  Had a slightly above average arm that was accurate.  His Positional Velocity was 81 mph.  Hands were slightly above average and showed clean exchanges.  Footwork was clean, but slow at times.

+Elan Goodwin, SS, Battlefield, 2016
Hit from an open stance that was tall and athletic.  Did not have much of load.  Rhythm got stiff at times.  Stride was long and dove into the plate.  Lower half was utilized to drive the ball.  Maintained good balance throughout his swing.  Showed fast bat speed with a good approach during the round.  Exit Velocity was 79 mph.  Swing path was short and level through the zone, which should allow him to be a line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a ¾ arm slot that was accurate some of the time.  His Positional Velocity was 65 mph.  He had soft hands and clean exchanges.  His footwork was decent and had some fluidity to it at times.

+Justin Han, MIF, George C. Marshall, 2016
Hit from an open stance that was balanced and athletic.  Had a smooth load back with a slight arm bar.  Stride was short.  Maintained balance throughout swing.  Lower half was explosive to the ball.  Showed fast bat speed and good approach.  Exit Velocity was 77 mph.  Swing path was short and level through the zone.  Should be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  He had a Positional Velocity of 75 MPH that showed accuracy.  Footwork was slow and sat on heels.

+Jarrid Johnson, MIF, Nansemond River, 2017
Hit from a crouched/balanced stance.  Swing did not have much of a load and arm bared.  Rhythm was stiff throughout swing.  Stride was short and allowed him to maintain good balance.  Lower half was explosive to the ball.  Showed good bat speed with a swing path that was short/level and had good extension.  Exit velocity was 81 mph.  Should be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field he threw from a loose high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional velocity was 81 mph.  He showed decent hands with clean exchanges.

+Tyler Jumper, RHP/SS, Robinson, 2016
Hit from a crouched stance.  Hands dropped during load with a slight arm bar.  Lower half was utilized to get the barrel to the ball.  Maintained balance through all parts of the swing.  Showed above average bat speed.  Exit Velocity was 85 mph.  Swing path was short, but worked uphill at times.  Swing should be a line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a loose ¾ arm slot.  He showed accuracy with his arm and had a Positional Velocity of 81 mph.  He had average hands that made clean exchanges.

+Jaime Lewis, MIF, York, 2016
Hit from a tall/athletic stance that was open.  Did not have a load.  Stride was a short, abbreviated leg kick.  Lower half was explosive to the ball and maintained balance throughout.  Bat speed was slightly above average.  Exit Velocity was 83 mph.  Swing path was short and level to the ball.  Should be a line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  He had a Positional Velocity of 67 mph.  He made quick, clean exchanges with slightly above average hands.

+Dominick Marinelli, MIF/3B, Tuscarora, 2016
Hit from a tall/balanced stance.  Did not have much of a load.  Slight arm bar prior to his hands moving forward to the ball.  Stride was short with a slight leg kick.  At times, lower half did not stay engaged throughout the swing.  Showed bat speed with a good approach.  Exit velocity was 87 mph.  Swing path was short to the ball, which should allow him to be a line drive hitter.  Showed the ability to spray line drives to the opposite field.  In the field, he threw from a loose high ¾ arm slot that had accuracy.  He had a Positional velocity of 80 mph.  His hands were soft, which allowed for clean exchanges.  

+Ricky Marstellar, MIF/OF, Menchville, 2016
Hit from an open stance.  Had a smooth load that bat wrapped slightly.  Rhythm was fluid and allowed him to get the barrel to the ball consistently.  Stride was short with a slight leg kick.  Balance was excellent during entire swing.  Had average bat speed with a good approach that allowed him to hit the ball to all 3 parts of the field.  Exit velocity was 76 mph.  Swing path was short and level.  Should allow him to be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional velocity was 70 mph.  He showed decent hands with clean exchanges.

+Austin Morris, MIF/OF, Lee Davis, 2016
Hit from an open stance that had a smooth load.  Arm did bar slightly during load.  Rhythm was a bit stiff throughout swing.  Had a short stride that kept the swing in balance.  Lower half was utilized during swing.  Showed average bat speed with a good approach.  Exit Velocity was 81 mph.  Swing path was short and level through the zone.  Should be a line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  He had a Positional velocity of 79 mph.  He displayed decent hands with clean exchanges.  Was able to move to the ball well. 

+Nathan Neff, MIF/3B, Mountain View, 2016
Hit from an open and tall stance.  Had a smooth load that allowed him to get back.  Stride was short.  Lower half was utilized to get the barrel to the ball.  Bat dragged through the zone at times.  Exit Velocity was 74 mph.  Showed a good approach with a level swing path.  Should be a line drive hitter that can hit the ball the other way.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional Velocity was 69 mph.  He displayed soft hands that allowed for quick, clean exchanges. 

+Joshua Paynter, SS/3B, Central, 2016
Hit from a slightly crouched stance.  Loaded back, but bat wrapped and had a slight arm bar.  Had a short leg kick stride.  Lower half exploded to the ball, which maintaining balance.  Had average bat speed with a short swing path that had good extension.  Exit Velocity was 81 mph.  Should be a consistent line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  His Positional Velocity was 69 mph.  He displayed decent hands that made exchanges clean.

+Dwight Riddick, Jr., MIF/OF, Grassfield, 2016
Hit from an open stance that was balanced and athletic.  Had a smooth load back with a slight arm bar.  Had a leg kick stride that stayed balanced a majority of the time.  Utilized his lower half throughout swing.  Showed good bat speed with a short and level swing path.  Exit Velocity was 84 mph.  Should be a line drive hitter with the ability to easily hit to the opposite field.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional Velocity was 73 mph.  He displayed soft hands that allowed for clean exchanges.  Moved well.

+Fox Semones, SS/RHP, Hylton, 2016
Hit from a slightly open stance that was athletic and balanced.  Had a smooth load with a short modified leg kick.  Maintained his balance through his swing and had fluid rhythm.  Had above average bat speed with a good approach.  Exit Velocity was 88 mph.  Swing path was short to the ball with good extension.  Should be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional Velocity was 84 mph.  His hands were soft, with clean exchanges.  He displayed fluid footwork that allowed him to play through the ball.

+Joey Skov, SS, Tuscarora, 2016

Hit from a tall/athletic stance.  Rhythm was stiff at times.  Bat wrapped and had a slight arm bar during his load.  Had a long stride that stayed balanced most of the time.  Lower half stayed engaged through his swing.  Dragged the bat head through the zone at times.  Exit Velocity was 81 mph.  Had a level swing path and showed the ability to be a line drive hitter.  In the field, he threw from a loose ¾ arm slot that had a quick release and accuracy.  His Positional Velocity was 73 mph.  His hands were decent and allowed for clean exchanges.  His footwork had some fluidity to it and allowed him to work through balls.
