First thing to stick out was the overall talent on display at the Virginia Sports complex on Wednesday. With close to 70 in attendance, many of these young men showed their ability to help a program down the road.

Ethan Williams was one of the top performers on the day, showing two-way potential with his overall athleticism. The switch hitting catching prospect showed carry on his throws from behind (80 as well as a event best 89 mph across the infield. He did show a tendency to let the ball said at times trying to show off the arm strength. At the plate he presents an option from both sides of the plate with more strength from the right side. The way the arm translated to the mound was interesting as Williams was 85-87 on the day with a slider that showed some swing and miss potential.

Arms was the name of the day overall as 30 pitchers showed off their ability on the day. There was an interesting group of projectable lefties on display with room to grow in Bryce Blackburn, Wes Glass, Camdem Lazar, Andrew Moore, Jack Nathan, and Cody Willis all of whom fell in the 79-83 range on the mound with room to grow.

With summer now winding down and most arms and bodies getting tired, RHP out of Albemarle Scott Reid was able to make a bit of a jump. Reid pitched around 82 mph on the day and touched 84. Reid has a projectable 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame.

While throwing up to 82 from the left side, Cody Willis also shows nice power potential in his swing. Willis has started to fill out his frame looking stronger and showing strong hands at the plate with some loud contact during his BP session.

Jake Michna has changed his arm slot now throwing from a low angle that looks like an intriguing side arm pitcher. It’s a quick arm who throws all three pitches with fastball arm speed and shows later action on his breaking ball.

Two intriguing athletic outfielders are Justin Parker and Bryce Ross. Both showed arm speed from the outfield with Parker topping out at 90 and Ross at 87. Both are also pitching prospects whom haven’t had the velo translate yet to the mound, with Parker being a submarine arm and topping out at 80 mph.

Mark Evans had another solid workout across the board, running a 6.75 60-yard dash along with an 80 mph infield velo and a 92 mph exit velocity. Fellow infielder Connor Kannon also had an equally impressive workout with a 6.85 60, 82 across the diamond, and a 88mph on his exit velo.

Peter Cocolis showed well during the workout portion and carried that into the game, making some loud contact throughout. Cocolis ran a 7.34 60, and was at a 1.97 on his pop with an exit velo of 89 mph.

Stay tuned next week as we will have some more content from this great event.
