On Wednesday, August 10, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its Unsigned Senior Games for members of the Class of 2017 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. 54 players took part in the event and over a dozen colleges were present, representing NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. Over the coming weeks, we will break down each player’s performance. Last week, we began with the first group of pitchers, continued with the second group, and wrapped up with a final group. This week, we will look at the position players, starting with the catchers on Monday. Today we will look at the middle infielders.

Colby Carnes, Manchester
Carnes is 5-10 and has an athletic frame. Has fluid footwork and a clean exchange, plays through the ball with soft hands. Loose arm action, varies in slot, infield velocity of 74. In the outfield, long arm action from a three-quarters arm slot with accuracy, velocity of 76. Clean exchange that is quick. Hits from the right side, open tall stance. Short stride and explosive lower half with good balance. Quick bat and short path. Pull approach with doubles power, exit velocity of 85.

Justin Cherry, North Stafford
Cherry has a short, loose arm action and throws primarily from a high three-quarters arm slot, dropping down occasionally. Strong arm with accuracy and carry, position velocity of 85. Soft hands, quick fluid footwork, and a quick, clean exchange, plays through ball well. Switch hitter, from the right side slightly open athletic stance. Slight load back and short stride, explosive lower half and good balance. Fast bat and level swing path, line drive hitter with a pull approach, exit velocity of 84. From the left side, slight crouch to stance, short leg kick stride and load back. Ok hips and average balance, pull approach and a level swing, exit velocity of 81.

Anthony Febo, Gar-Field
Febo is 5-5 with a lanky frame. Short arm action from a high-three quarters slot, some accuracy and a position velocity of 71. Average hands and fluid footwork with clean exchange. Hits from right side with an athletic stance, slight load back and short leg kick stride. Ok lower half and good balance throughout swing. Short, line drive swing, exit velocity of 76. Decently quick, ran 7.27 on his 60.

Robert Guenther, George C. Marshall
Guenther is 5-11 and has an athletic frame. In the infield, short loose arm action from a high three-quarters slot that is accurate. Average strength with position velocity of 75. Average hands and fluid footwork, quick clean exchange and plays through ball well. In outfield, same arm action with carry, velocity was 82, soft hands and clean exchange. At plate, hits from right side with an athletic stance. No load and leg kick stride, ok lower half and good balance. Fast bat with a good approach, extension through the ball and works gap to gap with power to pull side. Exit velocity of 88.

Travis Huisman, Fairfax
Huisman has a long arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, sometimes dropping down. Infield velocity of 70 and some accuracy. Average hands with fluid footwork. Hits from right side, athletic open stance. Leg kick stride with ok lower half and good balance. Level swing with some extension, pull line drive approach, exit velocity of 83. 60 time of 7.34.

Kyle Keenan, Colonial Forge
Keenan is 6-1 and has a strong athletic frame. Short arm action from a low three-quarters arm slot with above average strength and some accuracy, position velocity of 79. Clean exchange. Hits from the right side from a slightly open crouched stance with low hands. Loads back with short stride, ok lower half and good balance throughout swing. Fast bat, works uphill with a pull approach and power to pull side, fluid rhythm. Exit velocity of 89.

Timothy Stephan, Highland School
Short loose arm action and a strong arm, accurate throws with carry, position velocity of 82. Soft hands, quick fluid footwork and a quick fluid exchange, playing through the ball well. Hits from the right side with an athletic stance, leg kick stride and smooth back load. Decent lower half and good balance throughout swing. Fast bat, short path with extension, line drive swing with gap power to all fields and more to his pull side, good rhythm and exit velocity of 90.

Patrick Tyree, Heritage
Tyree is 5-7 with an athletic frame. Short arm action with a high three-quarters arm slot, some accuracy and average arm strength with a position velocity of 77. Average hands, fluid footwork with a quick clean exchange, playing through the ball well. Hits from the right side with an open stance. No load back and a leg kick stride. Ok lower half and average balance throughout swing. Fast bat with good approach. Short path with a line drive swing, exit velocity of 86.

Ethan Wanat, Woodbridge
Wanat is 6-1 and has an athletic frame. Short loose arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, some carry with a position velocity of 78. Average hands with quick fluid footwork and a quick clean exchange, plays through the ball well. At the plate, hits from the right side with a taller open stance. Smooth load back and a short leg kick stride, ok lower half and good balance throughout swing. Short swing with a line drive approach and doubles power to his pull side, exit velocity of 86.
