On Wednesday, August 10, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its Unsigned Senior Games for members of the Class of 2017 at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland. 54 players took part in the event and over a dozen colleges were present, representing NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. Over the coming weeks, we will break down each player’s performance. Last week, we began with the first group of pitchers, continued with the second group, and wrapped up with a final group. This week, we will look at the position players, starting with the catchers on Monday. Tuesday we looked at the middle infielders and today we will look at the outfielders

Jon Alderman, Chantilly
Alderman is 5-10 and has an athletic frame. Short arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 73. Average hands, quick fluid footwork and a clean exchange, playing through the ball well. Hits from the right side, tall open stance. Load back and leg kick stride, ok lower half and average balance throughout swing. Fast bat with a short, level swing, line drive approach that worked gap-to-gap. Exit velocity of 80.

Jack Basse, South County
Basse is 5-10 and has an athletic frame. Long loose arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot. Above average arm strength with accuracy, position velocity of 81. Fluid footwork and a quick, clean exchange, playing through the ball. Hit from the right side with an open stance. Loads back with a leg kick stride, explosive lower half and good balance throughout the swing. Fast bat with a short swing and a pull approach with some power, exit velocity of 94. 60 time was 7.21.

Trey Campbell, Riverside
Campbell has an athletic 6-0 frame. Long loose arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, above average strength with some accuracy, position velocity of 78. Average hands and fluid footwork, clean exchange while playing through the ball. Hits from the right side with an open stance. Slight load back and short stride, explosive lower half and excellent balance throughout swing. Fast bat with good approach, short swing with extension through the ball. Fluid rhythm and gap to gap approach with easy doubles power, exit velocity of 90. 60 time was 6.94.

Ryan Daniels, Kettle Run
Daniels has a short arm action with a high three-quarters arm slot, some accuracy on his throws, position velocity of 70. Average hands, clean exchange and plays through the ball well. Hits from the right side with a slightly open stance. Load back with a short leg kick stride. Ok lower half and average balance throughout swing. Fast bat with a good approach, short inside-out swing. Line drive stroke, exit velocity of 83.

Paul Groeschel-Johnson, Miller School
Groeschel-Johnson has an athletic 5-10 frame. Short arm action and a high three-quarters arm slot, some accuracy on throws, position velocity of 73. Soft hands and fluid footwork, clean exchange and plays through the ball well. Hits from the right side with an athletic stance, short leg kick stride, ok lower half and average balance throughout swing. Average bat speed, good approach, level swing with more juice to his pull side, exit velocity of 80.

Alex Horenstein, McLean
Horenstein is 5-11 and has an athletic frame. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity of 67. Average hands and a clean exchange, playing through the ball. Hits from the right side with an open stance, leg kick stride. Ok lower half and pull approach to his swing with some power to his pull side. Exit velocity of 87 and 60 time of 7.32.

Jared Kercher, Atlantic Shores Christian
Kercher has a long, loose arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot with some accuracy and carry, position velocity of 81 in the outfield. Soft hands, fluid footwork and a clean exchange, playing through the ball well. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance, smooth back load and short stride. Ok lower half and good balance throughout swing. Good approach, short level line drive swing with a gap to gap approach, exit velocity of 82. 60 time of 7.16.

Noah Lerman, Highland School
Lerman is 6-0 and has an athletic frame. Short loose arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Very accurate throws, position velocity of 79. Soft hands with quick, fluid footwork. Clean exchange and plays through the ball well. Hits from the right side from an open, athletic stance. Loads back with a leg kick stride, explosive lower half and good balance. Fast bat with a good approach and extension through the ball. Gap to gap swing with easy doubles power, exit velocity of 92. 60 time of 7.09.

Ashby Lilly, Mills Godwin
Lilly has an athletic 6-0 frame. Hits from the left side from an open stance. Smooth load, toe tap stride. Explosive lower half and good balance throughout his swing. Fast bat with short uphill path. Gap to gap approach with slight pull emphasis, exit velocity of 83.

RJ Payne, William Monroe
Payne hits from the left side from a tall, open stance. Smooth load slightly back, leg kick stride. Ok lower half and good balance throughout swing. Fast bat and good approach, working gap to gap with level swing with good extension. Exit velocity of 89 with some power potential.

Nathan Rebich, Spotswood
Rebich has a short, loose arm action in the outfield, throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Accurate throws with some carry, position velocity of 75. Soft hands and fluid footwork, quick clean exchange, playing through the ball well. Hits from the right side with an open athletic stance. Smooth load back and a short leg kick stride, ok lower half. Fast bat with a short level swing. Line drive, pull approach with doubles power to his pull side, exit velocity of 87.

Blake Schaar, Covenant School
Schaar is 5-9 and has a lankier athletic frame. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, position velocity of 70. Clean exchange and average hands, ran a 7.00 60. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance with a load back. Ok lower half with very good balance throughout his swing. Short level line drive swing working primarily gap to gap, slightly favoring pull side, doubles power potential, exit velocity of 87.
