WHITEWATER, WI – With a Sectional Championship on the line a birth the State Tournament in Appleton, the top seeded Red Devils sent sophomore left-hander Kyle Schulz to the mound. The sophomore southpaw did the job and earned a 5-4 victory for the Red Devils and a chance to play for the State Championship in Appleton.

Schulz had his breaking ball working and changed speed extremely well on the Wilmot lineup. Schulz racked up 11 strikeouts over his 6 2/3 innings pitched, scattering three hits and one earned run.

Things got scary for the Red Devils in the last inning trying to close out their sectional championship. With a 5-1 cushion and Wilmot down to their last at bat, Wilmot continued to scratch and claw chipping away at the lead. With one out and one aboard an error on the Red Devil left fielder, a routine second out of the inning, gave new life to Wilmot.

By working a couple walks, one with the bases loaded, and a two RBI single by Garrett Bogucki Wilmot faced just a one run deficit, 5-4. But with the tying run aboard Red Devil relief pitcher Mason Kessler came on and caught Corey Crowder looking to end the game and send Bradford to Appleton as they continue their push for a state title.
