Hitters Spring League Roundup

The Hitters Spring League saw its first outdoor action this past weekend and several teams got outside for the first time this year. Here’s a look at the weekend action.

Black 9, Gold 7

Black only managed four hits on the day but still walked away with the win. Jack Bloomer collected three RBI on one hit in two at bats for Black. Arthur Harmon led the way going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Gold.  

Orange 11, Maroon 5

Orange walked away with the 11-5 victory thanks in large part to Brandon Krenerich’s 4-for-6 day with four RBI and two runs scored. Nick Lackney was sharp on the mound for Orange collecting the win and striking out seven in four innings. Riley Richarz went 2-for-3 in the loss with a triple and an RBI.

Purple 9, Navy 1

The Purple pitching was dominant allowing just one hit over six innings. Augie Mihlbauer and Bryce Schure combined to strike out seven and walk just two. Freshman Jamie DeWitt went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double to lead the offensive attack. Bryce Schure and Michael Schmidt each chipped in with two hits. Mihlbauer added three RBI on a double as well.

Green 5, Red 5

Ben Dragani struck out five in four innings of work allowing three runs. Takoda Metoxen had a 1=-for-2 day with a double and RBI while Kurtis Sippy added a triple and an RBI for Green. Jayson Walczak Zelem tallied three RBI for Red with a double and a run.

Black 5, Orange 5

Illinois commit, Doran Turchin, collected three RBI on a 1-for-2 day with a triple. Owen Miller added two hits. Nick McLees worked a scoreless two innings on the mound allowing two hits while adding two RBI on a 1-for-1 day.

Maroon 16, Gold 2

Maroon routed Gold thanks to Riley Richarz 3-for-4 day. Richarz drove in five RBI and scored a run while adding a double and a triple to his day. Ben DeGracie had three RBI on a triple. Dominic Clementi went deep on his 2-for-3 day with two RBI. Pete Koscinski, Matt McCarty and Cyrillo Watson combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound allowing just one earned run.
