KENOSHA, WI – With the outside temperature feeling like 30 degrees, No. 3 Indian Trail defeated crosstown rival No. 5 Tremper 3-2.

Gavin LuxA strong contingent of scouts were on hand to watch 2016 SS Gavin Lux of Indian Trail. Lux, who has seen his draft stock rise this spring, and he did not disappoint at the plate going 2-3 on the day. After Tremper was set down in the top of the first, Lux stepped to the plate and took the first offering from Keith Kutzler over the right field fence to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead.

Tremper got on the board in the top of the third when leadoff man Hunter Weddel reached on an error by Lux, who was forced to make a quick throw on a high chopper. Trojan catcher Christian Zamudio, who went 2-4 on the day, drove in Weddel with a single. With two outs Keith Kutzler hit a shallow flyball to centerfield, which fell on a miscommunication by Lux and centerfielder Nick Elsen, which gave Tremper a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third Kyle Antos came around to score on a triple by Dylan Shore to tie the game. The Hawks took the lead when Nick Elsen reached on an error by the third baseman, allowing Shore to score.

Ryan HoerterUncommitted Junior RHP Ryan Hoerter impressed on a brutally cold day for Indian Trail. He worked six innings allowing just four hits, but did walk five. He showed the ability to hold velocity, sitting 84-86 mph into the sixth inning. At 6-foot-5 and 175-pounds, Hoerter will garner lost of interest from colleges around the country.

Kyle Antos, who started the game behind the plate, came in to close out the 3-2 victory.

Indian Trail stays perfect at 8-0 as Tremper drops to 9-2 on the season. Both teams meet again tomorrow at Tremper for game two of the season series.
