Oak Creek HS trio representing WIsconsin at MWFG

Oak Creek High School is a perennial powerhouse in the WIAA summer baseball division. Oak Creek won the summer State Title in 2012 making it four out of the previous 10 years. Much of their 2012 success was in large part to their 2015 class.

Oak Creek will be sending three incoming juniors to the Midwest Future Games in Doran Turchin, Mitchel Makarewicz and Nathan Veloz. All three are ranked in the top 12 of the Class of 2015 rankings in Wisconsin (No. 4, No. 10 and No. 12 respectively).

Doran Turchin is one of the more dynamic athletes in the Class of 2015. Turchin has shown a big arm from the outfield at 89 mph with above average foot speed and excellent bat speed. Turchin’s athleticism will surely be on display this weekend at the Midwest Future Games.

Mitchel Makarewicz is a long and lanky right handed pitcher at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds. Makarewicz features a deceptive delivery that consistently works downhill, producing a high rate of ground balls. Makarewicz has been up to 85 mph in the spring. We have seen Makarewicz tinkering with a forkball that showed depth and late action along with feel for his breaking ball.

Nathan Veloz is an imposing figure at 6-foot-4, 310-pounds. The left handed pitcher is also a standout in the trenches of the football field. Veloz shows incredible body control and athleticism for his size, his delivery and arm action is extremely clean and easy producing an 82-84 mph fastball with a heavy feel. Veloz also featured feel of an 11/5 breaking ball with sharp action.

This trio should keep the success of Oak Creek baseball going as well as putting their names on the recruiting boards of colleges across the country.
