PBR welcomes national expert Nathan Rode to our staff

By Sean Duncan
Executive Director

The Prep Baseball Report is thrilled to announce the addition of Nathan Rode to our team of talented writers and scouts. Rode comes to the Prep Baseball Report from Baseball America, where he established himself as one of the nation’s foremost experts of high school baseball.

In his six years at Baseball America, Rode primarily served as the national high school editor. Rode’s responsibilities included compiling BA’s Top 100 player rankings, providing coverage from top national events, and assisting in BA’s comprehensive draft coverage.

Rode also served as co-chair on the national ranking committee, in which he coordinated information for the High School Top 25 team rankings. Other duties included coordinating the selection of BA’s all-Americans, writing bi-weekly features on top prospects or teams, originating BA’s high school blog, and serving as the photo editor.

Furthermore, Rode played an integral role in the birth of the National High School Invitational, working with USA Baseball to find and invite the top teams in the country for the 16-team tournament.

At the Prep Baseball Report, Rode will augment our unprecedented state-specific high school coverage, while also providing national prospect and event coverage. Rode will also focus on the Major League Draft throughout the year. Rode’s tenure will begin next week at USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars.

Rode’s wife, Alyson, is an acclaimed photographer/videographer. Her work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Baseball America, and MLB Network, to name a few.
