RHP Branden Frank talks about his recruiting

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Wisconsin/Illinois

Branden Frank is a right handed pitcher from Arrowhead HS. We first saw Frank at the Preseason Prospect Identification in March of 2013 and liked what we saw out of the big right hander.Branden Frank

Frank has an athletic frame with some strength, standing 6-foot-4, 210-pounds. His delivery has rhythm, working on line with level shoulders. His landing is slightly open but finishes athletically. Frank uses a long arm action from a ¾ arm slot. This creates run on his fastball at 82-84 mph while showing the ability to throw it for strikes. His slider has potential, displaying sweeping action. He throws his slider with fastball arm speed and showed wipe out potential when in the 73-75 mph range. He also shows a changeup with feel, occasional sink and thrown with fastball arm speed. It showed consistent command at 77-79 mph.

Frank has been active on the recruiting front, receiving interest from Morehead State, St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, Salem International, Washburn, Upper Iowa, Dominican, Ashford, and Midland.

He hasn’t made many visits yet, Ashford being his only visit, but he does have a date scheduled with St. Cloud St. as well as Washburn, Upper Iowa and Midland in the mix.

Frank was a workhorse for Arrowhead in his junior campaign. Starting 11 games on the mound, Frank recorded 70.2 innings pitched. He pitched five complete games and struck out 62 on the year.

Frank will continue his search this fall he says, “I would like to go to a school that offers a major in education or physical therapy.”

Frank is constantly working on his craft and takes pride in his efforts on and off the field.

“The goals for my senior season are to work hard during the off season so I can be in the best shape I can be in and during the season to lead by example on and off the field,” he said.

This fall Frank will be playing for the Wisconsin All-Stars. He also said, “My senior season I will be playing spring and summer ball with STiKS Academy.”
