Recruiting Roundup: Peyton Cypress makes D1 commitment and more

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Wisconsin/Illinois

Last week several of the top ranked seniors in Wisconsin made college commitments including top uncommitted prospect Peyton Cypress who made a Division 1 commitment to Nicholls State.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected? Easy/Difficult?

Cypress: Growing up I was always taught to think through my decisions, so I expected the process to take longer than it does for the average player. It was one of my most stressful times in my life.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Was there a particular game or event that you feel turned the corner for you?

Cypress: The recruiting process started to heat up my senior year after the PBR unsigned senior showcase.

PBR: What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Cypress: I was looking for a program that felt like home and somewhere I knew would push me physically and mentally. Coach Thibodaux is that coach, tough and a great guy.

PBR: What do you like most about the college you committed to and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Cypress: I love the feel at the school, the work ethic of the guys, and the coaching staff is the best around.
