Ryan Cashore has a heavy schedule ahead this fall

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Wisconsin/Illinois

We first saw Ryan Cashore (Evansville, 2014) at our Beloit Prospect Identification Showcase on August 6 at Pohlman Field. Cashore is a long lanky right hander at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds showing good projectability.

Cashore’s delivery had some rhythm, working in line with an athletic finish. He throws with moderate effort and a quick arm action from a high ¾ slot. He showed control of his fastball at 82-84 mph with hard sink, topping at 85 mph. He showed a curveball working on an 11/5 plane, throwing it with control at near fastball arm speed at 70-72 mph. Cashore also throws a straight change with slight sink; thrown with fastball similar arm action at 75-76 mph.Ryan Cashore

Cashore looks to have a high upside and is a high follow in the Class of 2014 and many schools have taken notice.

Cashore said he has received interest from a number of schools lately, including: Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, Northwestern Iowa, Iowa Western, University of Indiana, University of Iowa, Middle Tennessee State, Clarke University and UW-Stout.

As far as visits go, Cashore has a busy fall ahead of him. He has visits and camps set up for nearly every school he has seen interest from. He is currently working on setting up dates for Clarke and UW-Stout but already has a jam pack slate this fall.

Out of all these schools Cashore is focused on what he is looking for.

“Looking for a school with a combination of high expectations in their baseball program and high academic standards.”

Cashore had a fine junior year recording 73 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched. He only allowed 15 walks and posted a 1.50 ERA according to Cashore.

As he makes his way through his busy fall recruiting schedule and high school football season, we will be keeping tabs on the projectable righty following just how high his ceiling will go.
