KAUKAUNA, WI – Tuesday’s Division 1 Kaukauna Sectional started off with the No. 1 seed Papermakers of Kimberly taking on No. 5 seed Appleton West.

Appleton West sent their senior ace, Jacksonville commit Nathan Disch to the mound to take on Kimberly’s No. 1 and Gatorade Player of the Year Scott Schreiber (2014).

Schreiber got off to a shaky start with two walks in the first inning but quickly settled down after Kimberly got on the board in the bottom half.

The Papermakers struck first on an RBI single from Schreiber scoring senior leadoff hitter Ben Diedrick. Kimberly added to its 1-0 lead in the third scoring three runs. Senior centerfielder Colin Englebert and junior outfielder Travis Vander Hyden came through with RBI singles for the Papermakers.

Meanwhile Schreiber settled in nicely on the mound, showing an advanced change up while flashing excellent bite on his breaking ball. His feel for his secondary pitches made his 84-86 mph fastball even that much better.

Kimberly kept Disch on the ropes for the rest of the game scoring two more runs in the fourth on a big two run single off the bat of Diedrck.

The Papermakers put the game away in the bottom of the sixth scoring four runs, two on a triple from Schreiber and the game winner on an RBI single by Vander Hyden.

Kimberly will face Neenah in the Sectional Final which has been pushed back to Thursday due to rain.
