Today’s stock report is on Tucker Maris. Maris is a Class of 2015 product from Homestead HS where he doubles as an outfielder and pitcher for the Highlanders. Maris brings a dynamic game to the field and has the ability to contribute as a sophomore to the varsity level.

Maris has an athletic frame that has some length, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way player has well above average tools to bring to the field. Defensively Maris shows well above average arm strength for his age, at 87 mph from the outfield his arm shows carry through his target. His hands work well defensively showing above average outfield actions, displayed by his fluid footwork and clean exchange.

Offensively Maris hits from an open setup using a short stride. His lower half is active demonstrating good balance throughout his swing. His swing shows easy effort with bat speed displaying a pull tendency with fluid rhythm. He shows some pop displayed by his 81 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Maris also proves he can be a threat on the mound. His delivery shows regular effort with moderate rhythm while his arm action is quick operating from a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits at 80-82 mph showing slight run with control. His curveball works on an 11/5 plane and shows some control at 66-70 mph. His curve shows promise and could end up being a good out pitch for him. Maris also showed a changeup and cutter that are still in the development stage and will get better with experience.

Maris is one of the top two way players in his class and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
