CARY, NC – The USA Baseball Tournament of Stars concluded on Sunday with the Brave Team wining the gold medal game 4-0 over Free. Top ranked 2018 in Wisconsin Jarred Kelenic went 1-1 with a home run that left the bat at 97 mph. At the conclusion of the event the 40-man roster for the 18U National Team Trials was announced.

Jarred KelenicKelenic was named to the 40-man roster where he will compete for a roster spot on the 18U National Team in Houston this September. Kelenic, a Louisville commit, was one of just six 2018s to be invited to the Tournament of Stars. He along with two other 2018s made the first round of cuts. This will be the second consecutive year a Wisconsin player was named to the 40-man roster. Last year Ben Rortvedt, who was the 56th overall pick in the MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, also made the 40-man roster.

Kelenic checked in at 5-foot-11, 184-pounds and in workouts ran a 6.60 60-yard dash, threw 90 mph from the outfield, and had one of the top batting practice distances at 400.4 feet. During game play he went 3-9 with a double, home run, 2 RBIs, and went 2-2 on stolen base attempts. (All stats courtesy of USA Baseball)

Here is video and the report on Kelenic from this past winter’s Milwaukee Preseason ID Showcase.
