No. 9 Ty Ramirez

Ty RamirezWe first saw Ramirez (Greendale, 2015) in February of 2014 at the Milwaukee Preseason I.D. Showing well, the RHP/OF made himself known to us as one of the top 20 prospects in the state. But it was in June at the Top Prospect Showcase where Ramirez really burst onto the scene. After his breakout performance, of his 3,000 profile visits more than 2,500 of those clicks came after the Top Prospect Showcase. Ramirez shot up the state and overall rankings after that event sitting 88-90 mph on the mound and catching the attention of the more than 100 colleges in attendance. After continued success in the summer and reports of him topping out at 92, Ramirez announced his verbal commitment to Creighton in September.

Here’s a look at our report on Ramirez in June.

PBR Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way player, frame carries strength, some raw athleticism. Ramirez projects better on the mound, delivery is simple and repeatable tall and fall delivery, smooth and quiet with explosive release. Arm works from a high ¾ slot, loose quick arm action, free and clean. Fastball has excellent finish through the zone, late heavy feel, sat 88-90 mph. Curveball had tight action, sharp snapping bite, 71-73 mph, showed the ability to control. Straight change, occasional cut action, 76-79 mph.

Ramirez will also be in attendance at the Super 60 in February and look to bring the same fastball he showed for most of the summer.
