By Steve Nielsen

Connor Hock not only was the top pitcher in attendance but also the top Wisconsin prospect from the Unsigned Senior Games. Hock has a huge ceiling and seems to only be scratching the surface of his potential. Riley Wikel also stood out on the mound with a quick loose arm and feel for three pitches.

Here’s a look at the top Wisconsin prospects from the Unsigned Senior Games.

Top Wisconsin Prospects

1. Connor Hock, RHP, Bay Port, 2015
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher currently ranked No. 28 in Wisconsin’s 2015 class, impressed with projectable, lanky, and athletic frame.  Works from a tall and fall delivery, short, loose, high ¾ arm slot, regular effort, smooth rhythm, level shoulders throughout delivery, lands slightly closed.  Fastball sat 83-86 mph with running action for strikes.  Showed solid feel for 71-73 mph breaking ball with 11/5 shape and short, late biting action.  Also flashed a 79 mph changeup with solid arm speed.  Hock was one of the top arms available at the Unsigned Senior Games, and has the frame to add more velocity in the upcoming years.

6-foot, 150-pound right handed pitcher, slight build, loose actions. Tall and fall delivery, forward rocker step from windup, regular effort, athletic finish. Quick arm, high ¾ slot, loose arm. Defensively showed typical infield actions, played well on the move, showed body control with athletic arm action, projects as second base type. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot, athletic, some accuracy, 76 mph across the infield. Right handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride. Minimal lower half, handsy type swing, occasionally gets to front foot, simple swing that repeats well, line drive type hitter, showed the ability to find the barrel. 75 mph exit velocity from the tee.

4. Sam Sabinash, 3B, Greendale, 2015
Big build with strength, 6-foot, 210-pound corner infielder. Offensively hits from a tall stance, slightly open, short stride, good balance throughout. Showed impact of the baseball in BP, lose hands, pull side tendencies. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Smooth actions at third base, long arm action, ¾ slot, 76 mph across the diamond.

5. Chase Lindem, RHP, Xavier, 2015
6-foot, 178-pound right-handed pitcher works from short, high ¾ arm slot, tall and fall delivery, shoulders stay level throughout, toe up at balance point, hands raise up in windup around head, lower half stride direction closes off, throws across his body.  Fastball sat 77-79 mph touching 80, 81.  64-66 mph breaking ball had sweeping action, 10/4 shape.  Lone strikeout came on a 71 mph changeup thrown with excellent arm speed.
