Unsigned Senior Showcase Preview: Jordan Richardson

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Illinois/Wisconsin

With just over a week away from the Unsigned Senior Showcase in Appleton, WI on October 12, we will start to take a look at some of the participants in this event and give a sneak peek as to what they bring to the table and their recruiting endeavors.

Today we look at Jordan Richardson, a catcher and third baseman from Menomonee Falls HS. Richardson is an athletic 6-foot, 180-pounds. Back in January we saw Richardson showcase behind the plate where he posted pop times in the 2.2 range, topping out at 2.19. Then this spring we saw him show off more of his athleticism at third base moving well laterally, especially to his glove side. His arm shows playability at both positions.Jordan Richardson

Offensively the right handed hitter hits from a balanced setup using a smooth load and leg kick trigger. He hits with a level bat path and showed balance throughout his swing.

Richardson said he has been receiving interest from a number of schools already including, Oakland, Central Michigan, Illinois State, Parkland and Parkside.

He’s only made one unofficial visit, and that was to Oakland back in February.

Richardson seems to know exactly what he’s looking for at the next level.

“I am looking for a college campus that has a suburban feel...I have a desire to major in business so a good business program is desirable. I also have some interest in the area of law. I like a family oriented school with churches nearby. I have a passion for baseball and would very much like to use my talents for any school who would have me,” he said.

Richardson is hoping to have a big senior year, after being a three sport athlete, he has now dropped football and basketball to focus solely on baseball this year.

“My goals for my senior year are to continue to grow as a leader on the field, develop more on the mental side of the game, and to contribute to the team every time I step on to the field.”
