The Indiana Outlaws won the second annual Labor Day Challenge while the Rawlings Hitters finished 1-2-1 and the GRB Rays finished 0-4.

All of the games from the Labor Day Challenge can be watched at the High School Cube through the Prep Baseball Report Labor Day Challenge page.

The GRB Rays struggled to get their offense going all weekend, freshman Stephen Lund (Verona, 2018) was the only offensive standout going 6-for-10 with a double, an RBI and a walk. On the topic of 2018's, Rawlings Hitters brought two left handed hitting freshman in Jared Kelenic (Waukesha West, 2018) and Alex Binelas (Oak Creek, 2018) who look to have all the makings of being high level hitting prospects at the next level.

Rays pitching kept them in two of the four contest. RHP Ryan Schmitt (Arrowhead, 2016) kept things close for five innings against Southern Illinois and Keith Kutzler (Tremper, 2016) was sharp in his start against the Rawlings Hitters surrendering just one run on three hits, as the Rays lost to Rawlings Hitters 2-1 on  walk off triple from Ryan Davila (Warren, 2016).

Davila drove in both runs in the Hitters’ 2-1 win over the GRB Rays, the first coming on a sacrifice fly.

Illinois recruit, RHP Ty Weber (Menomonee Falls, 2016), matched Kutzler pitch for pitch striking out four in four innings without allowing an earned run on three hits.

The Hitters offense was much more productive over the weekend. One and two-hole hitters Gavin Lux (Indian Trail, 2016) and Jacob Snider (Champaign Central, 2016) set the table for the Hitters all week. Two hitters that are known for grinding out quality at bats, the pair combined for eight walks and two hit by pitches. Snider also hit one of the more impressive balls of the weekend smashing a triple to dead center with wood.

Michigan recruit, OF Dominic Clementi (Arrowhead, 2016) made his return to the diamond this weekend with two hits. Clementi looked comfortable and confident in the box and took great at bats all weekend.
