Zack Henderson's signature makes history at Greendale

Signing a Division 1 National Letter of Intent is a big deal for any prep athlete. Even more so in the sparse baseball landscape of Wisconsin. With only eight Division 1 signees so far in the Class of 2014, Zack Henderson (signing with Missouri), is in a rare class of baseball prospects in the Badger State. Add to that the fact that Henderson plays a summer high school schedule at Greendale HS which deprives him of a big portion of the summer showcase circuit.

Henderson burst onto the scene in March of 2013 when we first saw him at the Wisconsin Preseason Showcase. Showing uncanny bat speed and strength while sitting 88 mph with his fastball, he quickly fell into the top five ranked players in the state. Currently ranked No. 2 behind Vanderbilt commit Jeren Kendall (Holmen), Henderson quickly made his presence felt on a national level.

Zack HendersonThe town of Greendale (population less than 15,000) is witnessing history with Henderson’s signing to Missouri.  Upon signing his letter of intent, Henderson became the first Greendale baseball player to ever receive a Division 1 scholarship and will be the first Greendale student-athlete in school history to play in the SEC conference.

The Panther Pub and Eatery, a local spot splattered in Greendale Panther sports history, opened its doors for Henderson’s signing day which brought almost 100 friends and family to watch Henderson sign his National Letter of Intent. A huge day for the Henderson family and Greendale baseball program as Henderson has paved the way for future Panthers to follow in his footsteps.
